SUMMARY: On July 13, 2016, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) 
solicited comments on draft NUREG-1556, Volume 12, Revision 1, 
``Consolidated Guidance About Materials Licenses: Program-Specific 
Guidance About Possession Licenses for Manufacturing and 
Distribution.'' The public comment period was originally scheduled to 
close on August 12, 2016. The NRC has decided to extend the public 
comment period to allow more time for members of the public to develop 
and submit their comments.

DATES: The due date of comments requested in the document published on 
July 13, 2016 (81 FR 45308) is extended. Comments should be filed no 
later than August 26, 2016. Comments received after this date will be 
considered if it is practical to do so, but the NRC is able to ensure 
consideration only for comments received on or before this date.

II. Discussion

    On July 13, 2016, the NRC solicited comments on draft NUREG-1556, 
Volume 12, Revision 1, ``Consolidated Guidance About Materials 
Licenses: Program-Specific Guidance About

Licenses for Manufacturing and Distribution.''
    The purpose of the document published on July 13, 2016 (81 FR 
45308) was to provide the public with an opportunity to review and 
provide comments on draft NUREG-1556, Volume 12, Revision 1. This NUREG 
provides guidance to current holders of possession licenses for 
manufacturing and distribution and to an applicant in preparing an 
application for such a license. The NUREG also provides the NRC with 
criteria for evaluating a license application. The public comment 
period was originally scheduled to close on August 12, 2016. The NRC 
has decided to extend the public comment period on this document until 
August 26, 2016, to allow more time for members of the public to submit 
their comments.
