    The Department of Treasury has submitted the following public

    Special Request: In order to the focus group interviews described 
below in mid September 1996, the Department of Treasury is requesting 
that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) review and approve this

    Title: Income Verification Focus Group Interviews.
    Description: The IRS will conduct focus group interviews with 
individual taxpayers to obtain information on taxpayers' burden in 
providing their tax information to ``third parties'' and to gain some 
understanding of taxpayers' attitudes relevant to IRS' disclosure of 
their tax information to third parties pursuant to their authorization.
    Respondents: Individuals or households.
    Estimated Number of Respondents: 54.
    Estimated Burden Hours Per Respondent:
      Interview: 2 hours.
      Travel: 1 hour.
      Frequency of Response: Other.
      Estimated Total Reporting Burden: 195 hours.
