The entire meeting will be open to public attendance. The schedule for this meeting is as follows: Tuesday, May 11, 1999--1:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 12, 1999--8:30 A.M. until 6:00 P.M. Thursday, May 13, 1999--8:30 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. The following topics will be discussed: A. ACNW Planning and Procedures--The Committee will hear a briefing from its staff on issues to be covered during this meeting. The Committee will also consider topics proposed for future consideration by the full Committee and Working Groups. The Committee will discuss ACNW-related activities of individual members. B. Risk Communications--The Committee will begin to prepare for an October Working Group meeting on this topic with a number of lead-in presentations. These will include discussions with representatives from other government agencies, private industry, and the National Academy of Sciences, as well as professional risk communication experts. Risk communication initiatives underway within the NRC will also be discussed. C. Yucca Mountain Review Plan--The NRC staff will discuss the strategy for converting the Issue Resolution Status Reports for the proposed high-level waste repository at Yucca Mountain into a review plan for the repository license application. D. Preparation of ACNW Reports--The Committee will discuss planned reports on the following topics: biological effects of low levels of ionizing radiation, a White Paper on Repository Design Issues at Yucca Mountain and other topics discussed during this and previous meetings as the need arises. E. Meeting with NRC's Executive Director for Operations (EDO)--The Committee will meet with the EDO to discuss items of mutual interest. F. Miscellaneous--The Committee will discuss miscellaneous matters related to the conduct of Committee activities and organizational activities and complete discussion of matters and specific issues that were not completed during previous meetings, as time and availability of information permit. Procedures for the conduct of and participation in ACNW meetings were published in the Federal Register on September 29, 1998 (63 FR 51967). In accordance with these procedures, oral [[Page 19833]] or written statements may be presented by members of the public, electronic recordings will be permitted only during those portions of the meeting that are open to the public, and questions may be asked only by members of the Committee, its consultants, and staff. Persons desiring to make oral statements should notify the Associate Director for Technical Support, ACNW, Dr. Richard P. Savio, as far in advance as practicable so that appropriate arrangements can be made to schedule the necessary time during the meeting for such statements. Use of still, motion picture, and television cameras during this meeting will be limited to selected portions of the meeting as determined by the ACNW Chairman. Information regarding the time to be set aside for taking pictures may be obtained by contacting the Associate Director for Technical Support, ACNW, prior to the meeting. In view of the possibility that the schedule for ACNW meetings may be adjusted by the Chairman as necessary to facilitate the conduct of the meeting, persons planning to attend should notify Dr. Savio as to their particular needs. Further information regarding topics to be discussed, whether the meeting has been canceled or rescheduled, the Chairman's ruling on requests for the opportunity to present oral statements and the time allotted therefor can be obtained by contacting Dr. Richard P. Individuals or organizations requesting this service will be responsible for telephone line charges and for providing the equipment facilities that they use to establish the videoteleconferencing link.
