CHEMICAL SAFETY AND HAZARD INVESTIGATION BOARD


Sunshine Act Meeting

    In connection with its investigation into the cause of the 
explosion and fire at the TOSCO Refining Company's Avon Refinery in 
Contra Costa County, California, on February 23, 1999, the United 
States Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board announces that it 
will convene a Board of Inquiry beginning at 9:00 a.m. local time on 
September 15, 1999, at the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors 
Chambers, County Administration Building, 651 Pine Street, Martinez, 
California. This meeting will be open to the public. For more
