AGENCY: The Department of Energy (DOE).

ACTION: Notice of Supplemental Announcement (09) to the Broad Based 
Solicitation for Submission of Financial Assistance Applications 
Involving Research, Development, and Demonstration for Renewable Energy 
and Energy Efficiency Technologies, DE-PS36-99GO10383.

SUMMARY: The Hydrogen Program of the Department of Energy's (DOE) 
Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) is issuing a 
Supplemental Announcement to EERE's Broad Based Solicitation for 
Submission of Financial Assistance Applications Involving Research, 
Development and Demonstration, DE-PS36-99GO10383, dated November 9, 
1998. Under this Supplemental Announcement, DOE is seeking research and 
development (R&D) proposals that can advance the use of fuel cell 
technology in hydrogen-powered, mobile, underground mining equipment.
    Awards under this Supplemental Announcement will be Cooperative 
Agreements for Phase I research with a term of up to 12 months. Subject 
to availability, the total DOE funding under this Supplemental 
Announcement will be about $160,000. It is anticipated that only one 
Phase I award will be made.
    All information regarding the Supplemental Announcement will be 
posted on the DOE Golden Field Office Home page at the address 
identified below.

DATES: DOE expects to issue the Supplemental Announcement on January 
25, 1999. The closing date of the Supplemental Announcement is March 5, 
1999.

Golden Field Office Home Page at www.eren.doe.gov/golden/
solicit.htm. It is DOE's intention not to issue hard copies of the 
Supplemental Announcement.
