Virginia Electric and Power Company; Notice of Commission Staff 
Meeting With North Carolina Power Company on Re-licensing of the 
Roanoke Rapids and Gaston Hydropower Project

February 10, 1999.
    Virginia Power Company filed a License Application and a Draft 
Environmental Assessment (DEA) on January 28, 1999 for the Roanoke 
Rapids and Gaston Hydropower Project (No. 2009-018) located on the 
Roanoke River, North Carolina. The DEA was prepared in coordination 
with a group of representatives from various federal, state and local 
agencies, non-governmental organizations, and local interest groups.
    Commission staff are currently reviewing these documents and will 
attend a meeting, as follows, to participate in settlement discussions 
being conducted by Virginia Power Company.
    Meeting Date: February 16, 1999 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
    Location: Lakeland Arts Center, 411 Mosby Avenue, Littleton NC.
