ACTION: Notice; receipt of application. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY: Notice is hereby given that Mark Flint, University of Florida, School of Forest Resources and Conservation, 529 Ellsberry Road, Apollo Beach, FL 33572 has applied in due form for a permit to take loggerhead (Caretta caretta), Kemp's ridley (Lepidochelys kempii), green (Chelonia mydas) and hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbricata) sea turtles for purposes of scientific research. DATES: Written, telefaxed, or email comments must be received on or before April 24, 2015. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The subject permit is requested under the authority of the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended (ESA; 16 U.S.C. 1531 et seq.) and the regulations governing the taking, importing, and exporting of endangered and threatened species (50 CFR parts 222-226). The applicant requests a five-year permit to conduct research on sea turtles in Tampa Bay, Florida to determine the distribution and health status of the resident population of sea turtles in the region. Sea turtles would be captured by hand or net and have the following procedures performed before release: Measure, weigh, blood sample, lavage, internal and external biopsy sampling, laparoscopy and associated transport, and ultrasound. Carcasses and parts of dead sea turtles may be collected for necropsy to determine cause of death or contributors to mortality. Dated: March 20, 2015.
