II. Background

Under the provisions of the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995 (44
U.S.C. Chapter 35), the NRC recently submitted a request for renewal of
an existing collection of information to OMB for review entitled,
``Requests to Non-Agreement States for Information.'' The NRC hereby
informs potential respondents that an agency may not conduct or
sponsor, and that a person is

[[Page 42715]]

not required to respond to, a collection of information unless it
displays a currently valid OMB control number.
The NRC published a Federal Register notice with a 60-day comment
period on this information collection on April 2, 2018, (83 FR 14064).
    1. The title of the information collection: Requests to Non-
Agreement States for Information.
    2. OMB approval number: 3150-0200.
    3. Type of submission: Revision.
    4. The form number if applicable: Not Applicable.
    5. How often the collection is required or requested: On occasion.
    6. Who will be required or asked to respond: Non-Agreement States.
    7. The estimated number of annual responses: 120 responses.
    8. The estimated number of annual respondents: 15 respondents.
    9. An estimate of the total number of hours needed annually to
comply with the information collection requirement or request: 840
hours.
    10. Abstract: Occasionally, requests may be made of Non-Agreement
States to provide a more complete overview of the national program for
regulating radioactive materials. This information would be used in the
decision-making of the Commission. The legal basis is that section
274(a)(3) of the Atomic Energy Act authorizes and directs the NRC to
cooperate with the States to promote an orderly regulatory pattern
between the Commission and State governments with respect to nuclear
development and use and regulation of byproduct, source, and special
nuclear materials. Information requests sought from Non-Agreement
States may take the form of one-time surveys, e.g., telephonic and
electronic surveys/polls and facsimiles (questionnaires).

Dated at Rockville, Maryland, this 17th day of August 2018.

    For the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
David C. Cullison,
NRC Clearance Officer, Office of the Chief Information Officer.
