ACTION: Draft regulatory issue summary; request for comment. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY: The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is seeking public comment on a draft regulatory issue summary (RIS). The draft RIS describes one means by which medical licensees can use electronic signatures to satisfy NRC's signature requirements on internal records that the NRC requires the licensee to maintain. The draft RIS is addressed to medical licensees, NRC master materials licensees, Agreement State Radiation Control Program Directors, and State Liaison Officers. The NRC provides this RIS to the Agreement States for their information and for distribution to their licensees, as they deem appropriate. DATES: Submit comments by October 29, 2018. Comments received after this date will be considered if it is practical to do so, but the Commission is able to ensure consideration only for comments received before this date. II. Background The NRC issues RISs to communicate with stakeholders on a broad range of matters. The draft RIS describes one means by which medical licensees can use electronic signatures to satisfy NRC's signature requirements on internal records that the NRC requires the licensee to maintain. As noted in 83 FR 20858 (May 8, 2018), this document is being published in the Proposed Rules section of the Federal Register to comply with publication requirements under 1 CFR chapter I. Proposed Action The NRC is requesting public comments on the draft RIS. The NRC staff will make a final determination regarding issuance of the RIS after it considers any public comments received in response to this request.
