Abstract of Information Available

Based on the information available, human remains representing, at least, seven individuals removed from the Bennett Mound or Bennett Site (CA-SAC-16), Sacramento County, CA, have been identified. The seven lots of associated funerary objects are projectile points. On an unknown date prior to 1928, Albert Heath, a collector and dealer from Chicago, Illinois, obtained the individuals and associated funerary objects. They were purchased by RMSC from Albert Heath in March 1928. RMSC has no knowledge of any potentially hazardous substances used to treat the human remains or the associated funerary objects.

Cultural Affiliation

Based on the information available and the results of consultation, cultural affiliation is clearly identified by the information available about the human remains and associated funerary objects described in this notice.

The RMSC has determined that:

Requests for Repatriation

Written requests for repatriation of the human remains and associated funerary objects in this notice must be sent to the authorized representative identified in this notice under ADDRESSES . Requests for repatriation may be submitted by:

Repatriation of the human remains and associated funerary objects in this notice to a requestor may occur on or after December 12, 2024. If competing requests for repatriation are received, the RMSC must determine the most appropriate requestor prior to repatriation.
