Department of Energy
Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
  1. [Project No. 15045-002]

In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's (Commission) regulations, 18 CFR part 380, the Office of Energy Projects has reviewed the application for an original license to construct, operate, and maintain the New Cumberland Hydroelectric Project No. 15045 (project). The proposed project would be located at the United States Army Corps of Engineer's (Corps) New Cumberland Locks and Dam on the Ohio River in Hancock County, West Virginia. Commission staff has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed project.[1] The proposed project would affect 2.82 acres of federal land administered by the Corps.

The EA contains staff's analysis of the potential environmental impacts of the proposed project and concludes that the original licensing of the project, with appropriate environmental protective measures, would not constitute a major federal action that would significantly affect the quality of the human environment.

The Commission provides all interested persons with an opportunity to view and/or print the EA via the internet through the Commission's Home Page ( http://www.ferc.gov/), using the “eLibrary” link. Enter the docket number (P-15045), excluding the last three digits in the docket number field, to access the document.
