requesting that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) extend for three years the current Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) clearance for information collection requirements of its Rule Governing Pre-Sale Availability of Written Warranty Terms. The current clearance expires on July 31, 2026.

The Pre-Sale Availability Rule, 16 CFR part 702 (Pre-Sale Availability Rule or Rule) requires sellers and warrantors to make the text of any written warranty on a consumer product costing more than $15 available to the consumer before sale. The Rule has no recordkeeping or reporting requirements. On March 30, 2026, the Commission sought comment on the disclosure requirements associated with the Rule. 91 FR 15616. No relevant comments were received.
Pursuant to the OMB regulations, 5 CFR part 1320, that implement the PRA, 44 U.S.C. 3501et seq.,
the FTC is providing this second opportunity for public comment while seeking OMB approval to renew the pre-existing clearance for the information collection requirements associated with this Rule.
