SUMMARY:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), located within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), announces the award of approximately $30,000,000, for Federal Fiscal Year 2026 funding to the Ministry of Health (MOH), subject to the availability of funds. Funding amounts for years 2-5 will be set at continuation. The award is expected to help build and oversee national HIV and TB programs in Ethiopia through the MOH and its affiliates.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:

The sole source award is intended to help build and oversee national HIV and TB programs in Ethiopia through the MOH and its affiliates.

The Ethiopia MOH is the only entity that can carry out this work, as it is the primary authority responsible for overseeing the health care system in Ethiopia, including preventing, providing care, and treating HIV/AIDS, mandated under Proclamation No. 1263/2021.

Summary of the Award

Recipient: Ministry of Health (MOH).

Purpose of the award: The purpose of this award is to lead and coordinate the national HIV and TB program, helping to ensure sustainable, cost effective, high-quality life-saving HIV services at national and regional levels.

Authority: This program is authorized under Public Law 108-25 (the United States Leadership Against HIV AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Act of 2003) [22 U.S.C. 7601, et seq.] and Public Law 110-293 (the Tom Lantos and Henry J. Hyde United States Global Leadership Against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria Reauthorization Act of 2008), ( printed page 53257) and Public Law 113-56 (PEPFAR Stewardship and Oversight Act of 2013).

Additionally, these programs are authorized under Section 307 of the Public Health Service Act, as amended [42 U.S.C. 242l], Section 301 (a) [42 U.S.C. 241 (a)] of the Public Health Service Act, as amended.

Period of performance: September 30, 2026, through September 29, 2031.
