Written comments and suggestions from the public and affected agencies concerning the proposed collection of information are encouraged. DOJ seeks PRA authorization for this information collection for three (3) years. OMB authorization for an ICR cannot be for more than three (3) years without renewal. The DOJ notes that information collection requirements submitted to the OMB for existing ICRs receive a month-to-month extension while they undergo review.

Abstract: Individuals interested in obtaining a copy of their identification record contained in the FBI's Next Generation Identification System. The U.S. Department of Justice Order 556-773 directs the FBI to publish rules for the dissemination of arrest and conviction records to the subjects of such records upon request. This order resulted in a determination that 28 United States Code 534 does not prohibit the subjects of arrest and convictions records from having access to those records.
