Agenda

A SSC Subpanel will review methods developed by the Atlantic Herring Plan Development Team (PDT) for the Council to evaluate and potentially establish time and area closures for the Atlantic herring fishery to reduce catches of river herring and shad. In this review, the subpanel will: (1) consider background information including the performance of the current river herring and shad catch caps in the Atlantic herring fishery and a summary of ocean studies of river herring and shad, (2) review species distribution models and closure options developed by the PDT, (3) provide feedback to the Council on how this research can inform management measures, and (4) provide any recommendations for improving the methods. This technical review follows the Council's Research Review Policy, consistent with National Standard 2 Guidelines.

Although non-emergency issues not contained on the agenda may come before this Council for discussion, those issues may not be the subject of formal action during this meeting. Council action will be restricted to those issues specifically listed in this notice and any issues arising after publication of this notice that require emergency action under section 305(c) of the Magnuson-Stevens Act, provided the public has been notified of the Council's intent to take final action to address the emergency. The public also should be aware that the meeting will be recorded. Consistent with 16 U.S.C. 1852, a copy of the recording is available upon request.
