JUDICIAL CONFERENCE OF THE UNITED STATES


Meeting and Hearing of the Judicial Conference Advisory Committee 
on Rules of Evidence

AGENCY: Judicial Conference of the United States; Advisory Committee on 
Rules of Evidence.

ACTION: Notice of open meeting and hearing.

SUMMARY: The Advisory Committee on Rules of Evidence will hold a two-
day meeting and hearing. This meeting will be open to public 
observation but not participation. The hearing will be open to public 
observation, with participation open only to those who are testifying. 
The hearing will be held at 8:30 a.m. on October 22. The meeting will 
follow the hearing and will continue on October 22 until 5:00 p.m. The 
meeting will continue on October 23 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
    The Judicial Conference Committee on Rules of Practice and 
Procedure submits for public comment Evidence Rules 103, 404, 701, 702, 
703, 803, and 902. All comments and suggestions with respect to them 
must be placed in the hands of the Secretary as soon as convenient and, 
in any event, no later than February 1, 1999. Anyone interested in 
testifying should write to Mr. Peter G. McCabe, Secretary, Committee on 
Rules of Practice and Procedure, Administrative Office of the United 
States Courts, Washington, DC 20544, at least 30 days before the 
hearing.
