Agency Information Collection Activities: Approval of Information 
Collection

ACTION: Paperwork Reduction Act Approval Notice; Screening Requirements 
of Carriers.

    In accordance with the preamble to the final rule published in the 
Federal Register on April 30, 1998, at 63 FR 23643, the Immigration and 
Naturalization Service (INS) is issuing this notice to let the public 
know that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has approved the 
information collection requirement which allows carriers whose 
performance level (PL) is not better than the acceptable performance 
level (APL), to submit evidence to the INS so that they may receive 
fine reductions if certain conditions are met. Written evidence shall 
be submitted to the Assistant Commissioner for Inspections. Evidence 
may also be submitted electronically to: ``Una. F. Brien@usdoj.gov''.
    The OMB approval number for this collection is 1115-0223.
