Summary
Pursuant to Sec. 102(2)(C) of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (P.L. 91-190 as amended), the National Park Service, Department of the Interior, has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) assessing three alternatives for, and potential impacts of, a proposed General Management Plan for Death Valley National Park, California. In deference to public interest expressed by local governmental agencies, organizations, and other interested parties, the original 90-day public comment period has been extended an additional five weeks through January 15, 1999.
Supplementary Information
Copies of the DEIS can be reviewed at local libraries, and internet access is available at www.nps.gov/deva. A limited number of copies may still be available upon phone request at (760) 786-2331. All written comments must be postmarked not later than January 15, 1999, and should be sent to the Superintendent, Death Valley National Park, Furnace Creek, CA 92328.
