Description of the need for the information and proposed use: The
Family Unification Program (FUP) is a program, authorized under section
8(x) of the United States Housing Act of 1937 (42 U.S.C. 1437(X), that
provides housing choice vouchers to PHAs to assist families for whom
the lack of adequate housing is a primary factor in the imminent
placement of the family's child or children in out-of-home care; or the
delay in the discharge of the child, or children, to the family from
out-of-home care. Youths at least 18 years old and not more than 21

voucher issued to such a youth may only be used to provide housing
assistance for the youth for a maximum of 18 months. Vouchers awarded
under FUP are administered by PHAs under HUD's regulations for the
Housing Choice Voucher program (24 CFR part 982).
