multistakeholder processes to develop legally enforceable codes of
conduct that specify how the Consumer Privacy Bill of Rights applies in
specific business contexts.\2\ On December 3, 2013, NTIA announced that
it would convene a multistakeholder process with the goal of developing
a code of conduct to protect consumers' privacy and promote trust
regarding facial recognition technology in the commercial context.\3\
On February 6, 2014, NTIA convened the first meeting of the facial
recognition multistakeholder process, followed by additional meetings
through December 2014.
