Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council; Public Meetings

AGENCY: National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), National Oceanic and 
Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Commerce.

ACTION: Notice; public hearings and webinar.

SUMMARY: The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council (Council) will 
hold eight public hearings and a webinar to solicit public comments on 
Shrimp Amendment 17A.

DATES: The public hearings will be held January 5-14, 2016. The 
meetings will begin at 6 p.m. and will conclude no later than 9 p.m. 
For specific dates and times, see SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION. Written 
public comments must be received on or before 5 p.m. EST on Friday, 
January 15, 2016.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The agenda for the following eight hearings 
and one webinar are as follows: Council staff will brief the public on 
Amendment 17A to the Shrimp Fishery Management Plan. Shrimp Amendment 
17A includes two actions. The first action addresses the expiration of 
the Federal shrimp permit moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico. The second 
action addresses the royal red shrimp endorsement currently required to 
harvest royal red shrimp from the Gulf EEZ. Staff will then open the 
meeting for questions and public comments. The schedule is as follows:
