SUMMARY: In compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act (PRA) of 1995 
(44 U.S.C. 3501-3521), this notice announces that the Veterans Benefits 
Administration (VBA), Department of Veterans Affairs, will submit the 
collection of information abstracted below to the Office of Management 
and Budget (OMB) for review and comment. The PRA submission describes 
the nature of the information collection and its expected cost and 
burden; it includes the actual data collection instrument.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:
    Title: Application for Accrued Amounts Due a Deceased Beneficiary, 
VA Form 21P-601
    OMB Control Number: 2900-0216.
    Type of Review: Revision of a currently approved collection.
    Abstract: VA Form 21P-601 is used to gather the information 
necessary to determine a claimant's entitlement to accrued benefits. 
Accrued benefits are amounts of VA benefits due, but unpaid, to a 
beneficiary at the time of his or her death. Benefits are paid to 
eligible survivors based on the priority described in 38 U.S.C. 
5121(a). When there are no eligible survivors entitled to accrued 
benefits based on their relationship to the deceased beneficiary, the 
person or persons who bore the

expenses of the beneficiary's last illness and burial may claim 
reimbursement for these expenses from accrued amounts.
    An agency may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is not required 
to respond to a collection of information unless it displays a 
currently valid OMB control number.
    The Federal Register Notice with a 60-day comment period soliciting 
comments on this collection of information was published on March 2, 
2016, at 81 FR 10965.
