AGENCY: Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Treasury.

ACTION: Correction to a notice of proposed rulemaking and notice of 
public hearing.

SUMMARY: This document contains corrections to a notice of proposed 
rulemaking and notice of public hearing (REG-131418-14) that was 
published in the Federal Register on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 (81 FR 
50657). The proposed regulations that revise the rules for reporting 
qualified tuition and related expenses under section 6050S on a Form 
1098-T, ``Tuition Statement,'' and conforms the regulations to the 
changes made to section 6050S by the Protecting Americans from Tax 
Hikes Act of 2015.

DATES: Written or electronic comments and request for a public hearing

Background

    The notice of proposed rulemaking that is subject of this document 
is under section 6050S of the Internal Revenue Code.

Need for Correction

    As published, the notice of proposed rulemaking and notice of 
public hearing (REG-131418-14) contains errors that may prove to be 
misleading and are in need of clarification.

Correction of Publication

    Accordingly, the notice of proposed rulemaking and notice of public 
hearing (REG-131418-14) that are subject to FR Doc. 2016-18032 are 
corrected as follows:
