AGENCY: Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Department of 
Transportation (DOT).

ACTION: Notice.

SUMMARY: This notice contains a summary of a petition seeking relief 
from specified requirements of Title 14 of the Code of Federal 
Regulations (14 CFR). The purpose of this notice is to improve the 
public's awareness of, and participation in, the FAA's exemption 
process. Neither publication of this notice nor the inclusion or 
omission of information in the summary is intended to affect the legal 
status of the petition or its final disposition.

Petition for Exemption

    Description of Relief Sought: The Petitioner requests an exemption 
for external loads over congested areas for

the purpose of firefighting missions. Specifically, the requirement to 
provide prior coordination and written approval from the Flight Service 
District Office, notice of the intended operation given to the public, 
and developing a plan for each complete operation.
    DNR is tasked with suppression of all wildfires on private and 
public lands outside of the National Forests and Native American 
Reservations. Also, DNR requested to operate outside the United States 
due to having cooperative firefighting agreements with the Canadian 
Provinces of Manitoba and Ontario.
