In accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, FAA invites public comments about our intention to request the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approval to renew a previously approved information collection. The information collected is used by the FAA to register and renew aircraft or hold an aircraft in trust. The information required to register and approve ownership of an aircraft is required by any person wishing to register an aircraft. Information is also required for aircraft owners to renew their registration.

SUMMARY: In accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, FAA 
invites public comments about our intention to request the Office of 
Management and Budget (OMB) approval to renew a previously approved 
information collection. The information collected is used by the FAA to 
register and renew aircraft or hold an aircraft in trust. The 
information required to register and approve ownership of an aircraft 
is required by any person wishing to

register an aircraft. Information is also required for aircraft owners 
to renew their registration.

DATES: Written comments should be submitted by May 5, 2017.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: You are asked to comment on any aspect of

    Title: Aircraft Registration and Renewal.
    Form Numbers: 8050-1, 8050-1B, 8050-2, 8050-4, 8050-88, 8050,88A, 
8050-98.
    Type of Review: Renewal of an information collection.
    Background: The Federal Register Notice with a 60-day comment 
period soliciting comments on the following collection of information 
was published on December 14, 2016 (81 FR 90406). There were no 
comments. Public Law 103-272 states that all aircraft must be 
registered before they may be flown. It sets forth registration 
eligibility requirements and provides for application for registration 
as well as suspension and/or revocation of registration. The 
information collected is used by the FAA to register an aircraft or 
hold an aircraft in trust. The information requested is required to 
register and prove ownership.
    The information collected on an Aircraft Registration Renewal 
Application (AC Form 8050-1B) is used by the FAA to verify and update 
the aircraft registration information collected for an aircraft when it 
was first registered. The updated registration database will then be 
used by the FAA to monitor and control U.S. airspace and to distribute 
safety notices and airworthiness directives to aircraft owners.
    Respondents: Approximately 165,000 registrants and owners.
    Frequency: On occasion.
    Estimated Average Burden per Response: 30 minutes.
    Estimated Total Annual Burden: 120,000 hours.
