AGENCY: Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Department of 
Transportation (DOT)

ACTION: Notice of petition for exemption received.

SUMMARY: This notice contains a summary of a petition seeking relief 
from specified requirements of Title 14, Code of Federal Regulations. 
The purpose of this notice is to improve the public's awareness of, and 
participation in, this aspect of the FAA's exemption process. Neither 
publication of this notice nor the inclusion or omission of information 
in the summary is intended to affect the legal status of the petition 
or its final disposition.

Petition for Exemption

    Docket No.: FAA-2017-0471.
    Petitioner: General Electric Company.
    Section of 14 CFR Affected: Section 33.27(c).
    Description of Relief Sought: The General Electric Company (a.k.a. 
GE) seeks relief from the requirements of Sec.  33.27(c) for a complete 
loss of load occurrence on the stage 2 high pressure turbine (HPT) 
rotor overspeed conditions caused by a failure within a portion (axial 
segments) of the HPT aft shafting for certain GE9X engine models.
